Brinsea TLC-40 Eco Brooder/Intensive Care Unit
Bird Brooder
Altricial species of birds (including parrots and birds of prey) are blind and helpless when they hatch and it is some weeks before they are able to move around, control their body temperature, and feed themselves. During this period the young birds need to be kept in a clean, temperature-controlled environment that is as free as possible from airborne contaminants.
As they grow and develop down and feathers they can tolerate lower temperatures and the breeder needs to be able to reduce the chamber temperature easily, whilst still maintaining control. Young birds also benefit from being able to see humans from within the chamber. During this early stage in their development it is essential for young birds to become familiar with the presence of people if they are to be tame in adulthood.
Recovery Incubator
The TLC-40 parrot brooders fulfill all these functions cost-effectively and can also double as a Recovery Incubator or Hospital Cage for sick or injured birds and mammals. Animals such as neonatal kittens, baby squirrels, baby raccoons, and even hedgehogs can greatly benefit from time spent in a TLC unit.
Intensive Care Unit
TLC units are used around the world by breeding facilities, rescue centers, and individual wildlife rehabbers. TLC Intensive Care Units are the best place for weak and fragile animals to heal, hide, and grow. The TLC incubators provide a warm, clean, quiet, safe, and controlled environment, giving these orphaned animals the best chance to recover and thrive.
Brinsea TLC-40 Eco Hygiene
Hygiene is a top priority, which is why the TLC units have been carefully designed to make cleaning as easy as possible with smooth-finish ABS plastics. We designed the TLC-40 and larger TLC-50 units to come apart completely.
Airflow in the TLC-40 and 50 units has been carefully optimized to create a slight positive pressure within the chamber, which resists the inflow of any unfiltered air from outside. This use of slight pressure differences is a proven method in hospital isolation wards to resist the spread of airborne biohazards. As internal air is circulated in the TLC-40 and 50 it passes through two internal 2-stage electrostatic filters. All the filters are washable and replaceable.
A Variety of Choices
The Eco provides control and read-out of temperature, and the new Eco II also offers high and low temperature alarms. The Advance features digital controls, high and low temperature alarms, display of humidity, and a switchable LED internal light. The new Advance II also features a nebulizer solution holder and adjustable fan speed. The new top-of-the range Zoologica II units have an integral pump for maintaining an increased humidity range, which offers greater peace of mind when dealing with animals that depend on humid conditions.
Warm air at brooding temperature can result in dehydration of the animals, so the TLC-40 and larger TLC-50 brooders incorporate a water reservoir over which air is circulated to increase humidity within the chamber. The water reservoir is filled from outside the unit and is clear, allowing the user to monitor the water level. It is removable for easy cleaning.
The TLC-30 units are smaller and more portable, making them perfect for on-the-go rehabbers.
